What is rekeying?
Rekeying changes the internal pins that decide which key works the lock. The lock itself stays the same. The only difference is that the old keys no longer work, so you can be confident you hold the only working keys.
What's the difference between rekeying and changing the locks?
Rekeying keeps your existing hardware and changes the keys that work it. It's usually the more cost-effective way to improve your security. Changing removes the whole lock and replaces it with a new one, which is needed if rekeying isn't possible or suitable.
